Congress Allowed Loot of Banks : PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accused the successive Congress governments at the Centre of allowing a handful of people to loot banks while denying loans to poor. 

Begining his election campaign in Karnataka, Modi addressed several public rallies. He said, despite the nationalisation of banks poor remained out of the banking system until his government started helming the country. 

Modi said, there was a time when the poor had no bank accounts, they could not even think of going to a bank. He said, the poor were out of economic mainstream and banking system. 

Modi said, his government started the Jan Dhan scheme for them. 

The Prime Minister told the gathering that 28th April got a momentous day in the history of the country when all un-electrified villages were connected with power lines. 

He said, the NDA government will embark on a task of connecting 4 crore households which do not have electricity even after 70 years of independence.

The Prime Minister dared Congress President Rahul Gandhi to speak in any language for 15 minutes about the achievements of Karnataka's Siddaramaiah government without referring to a piece of paper. 

Mr. Modi said, he is a person from the working class and any criticism by Naamdhar, a person from famous family, will not deter him from taking up the development work. 

He assured people of Karnataka that all the pending projects in the state will be speeded up when BJP comes to power. Mr. Modi claimed over two dozen BJP workers were killed under the Congress government in Karnataka in political violence. 

He also spoke about his government promulgating an ordinance to pave the way for providing stringent punishment, including the death penalty, for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years.

Amit Shah Begins Karnataka Expedition

BJP chief Amit Shah began his two-day visit to election-bound Karnataka with a visit to Suttur Matt in Mysuru today. He took the blessings of Suttur Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahasamiji’s blessings and appreciated the efforts of Swamiji in spreading the values of Indian culture and traditions.
Later, he paid a visit to Amba Vilas Palace and met erstwhile Mysore royal family. Union Minister Ananth Kumar, BJP state President B S Yeddyurappa and Member of Parliament Pratap Simha were present on this occasion. Amit Shah thereafter visited the house of Kyathamaranahalli Raju, an RSS activist who was hacked to death in 2016.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, 23 BJP workers were murdered in the state under Siddaramaiah Government and people have decided to end his rule. He assured the family members of those killed, that the culprits will be booked and punished when Yeddyurappa comes to power.
BJP national President Amit Shah did not reveal the details of his meeting with Mysore royal family. But this visit is considered important in the political circle. Speaking at the Navashakti samavesha in Mysuru he said Congress has lost many elections under Rahul Gandhi and the same will happen in Karnataka.
Later in the day, BJP President will interact with Dalit leaders today. This is the fourth leg of his tour in the state after his visit in north, central and coastal Karnataka regions. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too is campaigning in the Mysuru district today which will continue till April 2nd.

Inducing Them For Sycophancy

As he is a scion of the Gandhi family which has inherited a vast political legacy in the country, Rahul Gandhi was all in his right when he appealed the 1200-odd students gathered in front of him to join politics. Probably he was putting forth his own model as the one who has stepped in the widely perceived murkier field, when he could have easily chased brighter avenues. Add to this two most cruel sacrifices coming from his nearest ones. However, his message does not hold enough merit to attract the innumerable young persons in the country, who throng to in vogue areas like information technology, in a bid to attain the best possible lifestyle which was hitherto a dream for most part of the immediate history when Rahul’s party Congress, or his family members to be precise, ruled the country.

Rahul said, politics can bridge the gap between communities. This is a oft repeated sentence. But unfortunately, like a coin which has lived too long bearing the market forces, it has also worn out of its existence. There is hardly any field in country more divisive than the politics is. Rahul’s own party has consistently showed its preference for minorities, read Muslims, resulting in the alienation of Hindus from it. This gave rise to Bharatiya Janata Party, which enjoyed power for six years and became the only non-Congress party so far to have that long stint in New Delhi. More than that, the most important question one can pose is this – is the political environment in the country conductive enough for new and young entrants? Just recently, Rahul’s mother Sonia got elected to the post of party president. How many in Congress party itself remembered Jitendra Prasad, a politician from Uttar Pradesh, who was only one to challenge Sonia for the same post in 1998-99. He was washed away into the oblivion after the unsuccessful attempt, that nobody again dared to repeat the feat. Sycophancy reigns supreme in all political parties in India, it is the only currency in Congress market. By cashing this currency, the political posts are brought as is seen by almost each level of organization and power occupied by offspring of political leaders.

As Rahul himself admitted, he got so far just because he has Gandhi tag on him. Can the same privilege be claimed by innumerable youths in the country, who, god forbids, wish to join the politics? Can the same youth be ‘inspired’ to follow the path of sycophancy in lieu of their physical progress into realms of power? Unless political and social equality does not take their roots into parties, what logic allows anybody to induce a productive section of population into yoking themselves to one or other form of subjugation? The youths are performing better in whatever they do.

Austerity! At what cost?

At the time when recession is officially lingering at receding line, the ministers and leaders of Congress party are having austerity drive. From the public elected 'heir-apparent' of country Rahul Gandhi to the non-committal Shashi Tharoor, everybody is coping with the cost cutting in his own ways. Media is untiringly picking up each and every piece of information disseminated from New Delhi. However, considering the wild card given by media to Gandhi dynasty, some facts will not be probed ever.

The celebrations were just short of fire crackers when Rahul Gandhi announced to travel by Rajdhani Express. The statement of Louis XV, that punctuality is the courtesy of the king, was given a twist to say that AC travel by one of the most expensive train was the nobility of this young man. After his voyage, some things were never asked:

• were other passengers allowed to seat in the same compartment in which Rahul was seated?
• How much cost was incurred on the travel taking into consideration the security arrangements including security personnel? 
• How did the security at each station managed?
  

 The wide coverage given to the pelting of stones on the train in which Rahul was travelling was also not surprising. It is on the same lines which was adopted while reporting on the famed speech by Rahul, wherein he referred to a woman in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. He portrayed, in moving words, the poor condition in which the woman lived and how he spent one night in the woman's hut. In the latest incident, print and electronic media alike expressed concern over the stone pelting. Surprisingly, the culprits are not caught yet. One national newspaper went on to say that the risk taken by Rahul was unnecessary and he staked country's future in his act. As if something happening to Rahul is directly culmination of India's prospects. The old slogan of Indira is India is resurfacing again. 

 

What is true of Rahul is true for other ministers also. The ministers who have shown readiness to give one month's salary for the drought affected areas in the country will not part with the perks and allowances they get. It is a common knowledge that salaries of these ministers and MPs constitute a fraction of their income. Even actual contribution of that salaries is also not known. Pranv Mukherjee is saying he flies by economy class. Other ministers are expected to follow the suit. But the question is not of flying class but of flying unnecessarily. Why should the ministers and other functionaries fly by air to attend the foundation laying ceremony of projects which take at least a decade to complete? Can't these men work sitting in their offices? While opposing to economy class flying, Sharad Pawar said ministers have confidential files and working in planed with people around causes problem. I don't think passengers in a plane go to the minister's seat and lean over to see what file he is working on. Pawar himself will face much less problem if he cuts his trips to Pune or Baramati from New Delhi over petty issues. But he won't. And he is not alone. Almost each minister in the cabinet is doing the same.

In this scenario, the Congress will do a favour to public if it stops this austerity drama. The country is best prepared to be relieved of public money for minister's expenses. That's what is the norm for last six decades. Once this drama stops, there will be hope that someone will have time and inquisitiveness as to what happened to that woman whom Rahul referred in his speech. Did her life improved after the party won vote of confidence?

It's All a Family Business

Probable MPs Linked to CM

It is family affair for Congress. One day before Rahul Gandhi, the scion of the Gandhi family addressed a rally in Nanded, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's wife Amita filed her nomination papers from the Nanded constituency.

Monday was the last day for filing the nominations. This was in the contravention of the candidacy announced by Bhaskarrao Patil Khatgaonkar from the same constituency. Bhaskarrao Patil is the brother-in-law of Chavan and is the sitting Member of Parliament of the city.

Chavan, who accompanied Patil while filing latter's papers was also present with his wife while she filed her nomination.

When Chavan was in Nanded three days ago, several party workers had demanded to give the Congress canndidacy to Amita Chavan. Chavan had not given any reaction then. Khatgaonkar had filed his papers thereafter. Suddenly on Monday, Amita filed her papers. It is still an open question as to whether she remains in the fray or not because it is about a week to withdraw the nomination form. Whosever withdraws his papers, the candidate will be still from Chavan family.

Meanwhile, a total of 41 candidates are in the fray for Nanded Lok Sabha constituency. CM's wife was among the 21 candidates who filed their nomination on the last day.

Meanwhile, speaking in the election rally on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi said that oppposition parties do not understand what development is.

"They do not talk for the poor. Duniya ko garibon ki nazar se nahi dekhte. (They do not see the world from the eyes of the poor. They know only privatisation and stock markets," Rahul said speaking for barely seven minutes.
